About Michelle Murphy

It all started with a spunky and groovy hotel gal named Michelle Avery Murphy.

After spending 13 years working in hotel sales at companies such as, Wyndham, Starwood and Intercontinental, Murphy decided it was time to take her skills, relationships and knowledge and start her own business. This way she could presents all hotels internationally, find the best fit for clients and continue her passion in the hospitality industry. Being her own boss wasn’t such a bad idea either!

Now Murphy is no ordinary entrepreneur. She built her business starting with a big heart, a generous spirit and the gift of fun. With an infections smile and a genuine laugh, Murphy made her mark by building long standing relationships that have earned her a great reputation amongst clients and hoteliers alike. She truly enjoys mentoring Avery Murphy Rockstars, educating hotel sales professionals and meeting planners about the evolving hospitality industry, getting to know her clients on a personal level, being their advocate and having fun in the process is groovy to her. She is hardworking, knowledgeable and a tough negotiator that helps her clients obtain the best value.

She started the meeting site selection business with HelmsBriscoe and while there earned the prestigious President’s Club award 5 times. Then in 2009 and with continued success, she launched her first solo venture, Murphy Turgeon LLC. In 2014, the stars aligned again, additional staff was added and Avery Murphy LLC was founded.

When not mentoring Rockstars or assisting clients find more hotel choices, Michelle enjoys family and friends, the beach, traveling, speaking engagements, anything purple and living groovy!

Annette Eckel

Chief Go Getter Officer

With a desire to continue her adventure in the hospitality business and be an expert resource to her clients, Annette chose to use her enthusiasm, experience and “go getter” attitude to venture into the third party meeting planning business. As opposed to selling one hotel, Annette can present the best hotel that fits the client’s needs nationwide. She joined Avery Murphy in 2014 due to their expertise, business acumen and growth potential in the third party industry. In addition, the Avery Murphy team enjoys the spirit of collaboration and fun!

Annette brings more than 25 years experience in the hospitality industry working in both Northern and Southern California markets. She began her hospitality management career as the Director of Public Relations for the Ramada Renaissance Hotel in Long Beach. From there she went into a sales role and worked her way from Executive Meeting Manager to a Senior Sales Manager.

Annette has sold for branded and independent hotels, IACC approved conference centers and resorts. For four consecutive years she was in the Million Dollar Revenue Club at the Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California, named Manager of the Quarter at the Sheraton Suites San Diego, and was recognized seven times with the Pyramid Starz Award from Pyramid Hotel Group for achieving revenue and account development goals.

Annette resides in Encinitas with her daughter and enjoys travel, stand up paddle boarding and watching beautiful sunsets.

Christina Hake, CMP

Chief Solutions Officer

With first-hand knowledge having been an Avery Murphy client, Christina has chosen to make a career out of the #1 service that she used during her 10 years as a meeting planner for the California Head Start Association. She is excited to be of service to the many meeting professional colleagues she has worked alongside for so many years.

Christina believes the best resource for a planner is educating oneself. She received her CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) designation in 2012 and has provided one on one coaching to newer planners and Executive Directors looking for assistance with their associations meetings management strategies. She strongly believes that being active in the industry is crucial to successfully serve her corporate, association, and non-profit client base and proudly serves on the Meeting Planners International Sacramento/Sierra Nevada chapter as the Director of Strategic Alliance. Working with Christina not only provides you and your organization with security for your organization but also time savings.

As the Chief Solution Officer of Avery Murphy LLC, Christina’s goal is to give her clients back time by streamlining the site selection process and alleviating risk through strategic contract negotiations on their behalf. This will allow her clients to do what they do best; serve their attendees.

Natalie Fransham

Chief “Peace” Officer

After serving as a Law Enforcement Officer for the state of California, Natalie Fransham is indulging in her passion of event and meeting planning. Throughout her career, she coordinated and facilitated dozens of events and training sessions for both the government and private sectors. From smaller intimate meetings at the executive level to large scale conferences, Natalie has experience in securing the right venue and ensuring the event is both seamless and successful.

Through this experience, Natalie began to learn the skills of “peaceful” negotiation and closing contracts. However, upon retirement she was excited to learn about the benefits of third party hotel sourcing. She quickly recognized the efficiency, resourcefulness and potential cost savings of utilizing companies like Avery Murphy; where Rockstar representatives are trained and experienced in the hotel and meetings industry. Natalie is thrilled to be the Chief “Peace” Officer of the Avery Murphy team and master her skill set in third party hotel sourcing.

Natalie enjoys building professional business relationships in the public and private arenas. These relationships are key to earning and maintaining the client business. Drawing upon law enforcement and government experience, Natalie seeks to implement an approach to all clients by tailoring a plan to satisfy their individual, yet diverse booking needs.

When not canvassing hotel venues, Natalie’s passions are traveling, cooking and exploring the great outdoors. She is grateful for the time she is able to spend with family while raising her two children.
